What have you learned from your Audience Feedback?

Audience Feedback is very important when creating any product that is for a target audience. it is important to know what your audience thinks of your film so you can taylor it to them.

How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts?

It is important that all 3 of my products link together and this is what an established media product would do. There should be a theme or house style running throughout them.

As you can see from the above image, you can see how my 3 pieces link. I feel I have incorporated a theme throughout all 3 pieces. As you can see the text of the film used in the Magazine Review, Front Cover, and Title of my Short Film, are all the same which is a good way to link the 3 pieces together.





I also asked someone from my target audience the same question to find out someone else opinion on this question.

Evaluation 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?


The genre of the short film I wanted to create was Horror. The reason behind this is that I find horror one of the most interesting and fun genres, and there are lots of conventions to work with and you can play around with the narrative a lot.

Second Draft of Film Review (Ancillary)

I used the feedback I got on my first draft of my film review and made improvements and this is the second draft that I have created.

Film Distributors

I understand that currently no major film distributor would distribute my film as it is just a short film and no where near the quality of a feature length film. I still did research into the different companies that offer film distribution, I went for mainly in the UK as my film would be a English Film, filmed and edited in the UK.

The ones that really stood out for me were 20th Century Fox, Lions Gate UK and Universal Pictures UK. These are three large companies that have hundreds of successful films.

I decided to also go into research of what each type of films these companies predominately distribute. I looked at Lions Gate UK first, I instantly found they are distributing the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This is a film similar of my genre so I know they would be an appropriate distribution company.

Magazine Review

For my short film, I had to create a magazine review. I have done several deconstructions of current magazine reviews to find out the generic conventions, and I have created my own.
